Drying in this rotary Louvre dryer is achieved by passing the product through a horizontal rotating drum, fitted internally with a series of louvres arranged in such a way that the drying air passes through a moving bed of the product. The(variable) rotation of the drum imparts a rolling action to the bed of product so that intimate mixing and contact with the drying air is achieved without lifting and dropping the product through the drying air stream. The volume of air sent over the product can be adjusted by a hand controlled damper. Exhaust air is extracted from the dryer. The product itself is fed to the machine through the center of the inlet plate. A weir plate is fitted at the discharge end of the drum. The weir plate enables the depth of the bed of product inside the drum.
