Activatec design, develop and scale-up biotech technologies to manufacture biobased ingredients and materials from renewable feedstocks.
Activatec has raised €1m in its early stage for its research and development projects which involve more than 30 European partners including universities, feedstock suppliers, technology adopters and customers.
Currently, Activatec is involved in the development of the production and purification of several high-value products: Ectoine (an active ingredient for skin care, obtained in the project from agrifood side streams), Lactobionic acid, used in the cosmetics industry as an antioxidant and in the pharmaceutical industry as an excipient for formulation, Galacto-oligosaccharides, a prebiotic for both infants and adults, and finally a bioplastic with valuable applications.
